This TUESDAY is Election Day! To cast your vote you need to go to an assigned polling location, based on the address where you are registered.  Here are several different methods you can use to verify where exactly you need to go to vote in Nether Providence township.  Each should provide the same result, but sometimes it’s nice to have options!

A. The Pennsylvania Department of State has a great online tool for you to verify your polling location.

B. You can call the Delaware County Bureau of Elections directly at (610) 891-4659.

C. The Nether Providence township web site provides a Voting Information page that lists each precinct and polling location within the township.

D. This custom Google Map outlines the wards in Nether Providence township along with the associated polling spots for each precinct.

Polls are open from 7am to 8pm on Tuesday, November 2nd.  If you are in line at 8pm you will be allowed to vote so please don’t leave if you see a line.  Thanks in advance for taking part in the electoral process!

The League of Women Voters is hosting a debate between Walter Waite and Joe Hackett, candidates for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 161st district, on Monday, October 18th.  State rep races are particularly important this election as the winners will have a big hand in the 2011 redistricting efforts which will impact Pennsylvania for the next decade.

Candiates for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District have long been scheduled to square off in a League of Women Voters debate on October 14th.  Pat Meehan’s campaign announced last night that Meehan has backed out of the debate.  This comes just two weeks after Meehan’s disastrous debate performance against Bryan Lentz at a community center in Havertown.

In a press release, Lentz’ Campaign Manager, Kevin McTigue, said:

“Pat Meehan has demonstrated once again that he believes he is entitled to be a Congressman and doesn’t actually have to explain why… Pat Meehan WILL meet behind closed doors with the extreme Tea Party but he WON’T take public questions from groups like the League of Women Voters.”

The Lentz campaign web site is also tracking the number of public appearances by the major party candidates.  As of yesterday the score is Lentz 92, Meehan 21, leading some to wonder if Meehan has gone into hiding or if he’s simply calculated his best chance of winning is not to speak on the issues.

All new Election Board members (judges, inspectors, and clerks) are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming Voter Protection information and training sessions.  This is also helpful for poll watchers and a nice refresher opportunity for veteran board members.
